Services Industry Apprentice Support Officer
The Services Trades Industry Fund is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Tony Shaw to the position of Services Industry Apprentice Support Officer. Many apprentices experience difficulties at some stage of their training. There can be various reasons including learning difficulties, keeping up with training and assessment requirements, language, literacy and numeracy issues, inadequate understanding of the industry to name a few. The escalation of these issues often results in the cancellation of the apprenticeship.

Tony's role will be to assist apprentices and their employers address critical issues to enable the completion of the apprenticeship.  Tony will provide apprentice career and training information, learning support for apprentices in consultation with their RTO, mentoring support, linking apprentices to support services and monitoring apprentice progress, particularly those identified as at risk.

Tony brings a wealth of experience to the role as a former school teacher, trainer and assessor for the Rural Fire Brigade, Work Place Health and Safety Representative and experience with providing guidance and counselling services. Over the coming months Tony will be in contact with members of the Services Trades Industry Fund to introduce himself and discuss any issues regarding your apprentices.

This is another example of the comprehensive range of benefits that the Services Trades Industry Fund is delivering to its members.
